An up-and-coming powerhouse of the local accountancy sector has reached the finals of an exciting new awards scheme.

Peter Cowan of leading independent chartered accountancy firm Hall Morrice has been named as a finalist in the Rising Star category of the inaugural Finance & Accountancy Business Awards.  The so-called “Fabbies” awards were created to celebrate excellence in finance, accountancy and tax across North east Scotland.  Winners will be announced during a glittering awards ceremony at Aberdeen’s Union Kirk on May 8th.

Angus-born Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 2018 and has quickly risen through the ranks to become one of the firm’s most promising young leaders – at just 31 he is set to become Hall Morrice’s youngest-ever Director of Audit and Accounting.  His enthusiasm for serving the company’s growing and diverse client base is surpassed only by his passion for modernisation and digitisation which has been central to laying the foundations for recent growth.

Commenting on his finalist’s place, Peter Cowan said: “Being part of the team at Hall Morrice has given me important opportunities not only for my own professional growth but also to lead projects that have tangible outcomes for overall company growth.  That forward-looking, dynamic approach is motivating and inspiring in equal measure, and I am delighted that what we are doing at Hall Morrice is being celebrated through these awards.”

Hall Morrice Operations Director Ian Mackie added: “Peter’s impact has been profound and spans internal transformation and tangible client benefits.  His many contributions, including spearheading the digitisation of our practice management systems, have galvanised growth whilst maximising client satisfaction and staff engagement.  He leads by example, collaboration and mentorship and delivers exceptional results.  We are enormously proud of Peter being named as a finalist in the new awards, and we wish him all the best on May 8th.

Founded in 1976, Hall Morrice is one of Scotland’s fastest-growing independent accountancy and has a reputation for a client-first approach in serving a range of sectors including energy, construction, retail, and professional services.
