THOUSANDS of people turned up to Hazlehead Park on Sunday to enjoy the 2023 Aberdeen Highland Games.

The day included traditional Highland Games competitions, including Highland Dancing and Solo Piping, as well as family-fun activities such as a climbing wall, facepainting, crazy golf and obstacle courses.

Those attending were also able to enjoy stage entertainment from professional performers including Artie from the Singing Kettle, a magician and school choirs, a selection of fine food and drink from local producers, and quality trade and charity stalls.

This year’s Games were officially opened by the Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Dr David Cameron.

The Lord Provost said: “I very much enjoyed being a part of this year’s Highland Games at Hazlehead Park and seeing the fantastic talent on display.

“The Highland Games has become a familiar favourite in our city’s events calendar and the public support from both visitors and locals each year has been outstandingand this year has been no different.”

The Bancon Homes Charity Mascot Challenge also returned, with 8 mascots competing in a series of challenges across 6 fun events to win prize money for their respective charities, with Archie from the Archie Foundation being crowned the winner.

The city’s summer programme of events will continue on Saturday when Aberdeen hosts the 2023 European Pipe Band Championships at Duthie Park. More information can be found here: www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/pipebandchamps
