Aberdeen family support charity Home-Start Aberdeen will open a new, larger charity shop on George Street on Monday 17 November 2025, marking a major milestone in its mission to support local families.
The organisation is relocating from its long-standing small unit next to Nickel & Dime into the refurbished former Santander building at 100 George Street. The move brings significantly more retail space, improved visibility and a modern layout designed to enhance both fundraising potential and customer experience.
The new shop will offer an expanded range of quality pre-loved clothing, toys, books, homeware and gifts, with all proceeds helping Home-Start Aberdeen deliver practical and emotional support to families with young children across the city. The charity has been active locally for over three decades, working alongside parents to build confidence and create stable, nurturing home environments.
Cameron McCready, chief executive of Home-Start Aberdeen, said the move represents an important step forward for the organisation.
“This new shop gives us the space and flexibility to grow the support we offer to families across Aberdeen. The community has been behind us every step of the way, and we’re delighted to finally welcome people into the new premises,” he said.
Home-Start Aberdeen paid tribute to the many local businesses, tradespeople and volunteers who helped transform the former bank into a vibrant charity shop.
“This has truly been a community project,” Cameron added. “The generosity, time and encouragement shown by supporters has made this opening possible.”

The charity hopes the expanded shop will not only boost fundraising during a challenging cost-of-living climate but also promote sustainability by encouraging the reuse of donated goods.
The shop will open to the public from Monday 17 November, with an official celebration and ribbon-cutting scheduled later in the month.
Home-Start Aberdeen continues to welcome donations of good-quality items and is also seeking volunteers to support its growing retail operation. More information can be found at www.homestartaberdeen.org.uk.
