29/01/2021

WHETHER a business owner or not, we can safely say that most of us – if not, all of us – have adapted in some way over the last year as a result of the pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns. From shopping solely online to working from home permanently, there are so many things that we have changed and adapted to keep ourselves and those around us safe.

In-line with current government guidance, all non-essentials stores and businesses have closed, but that does not mean that they are not busy behind the doors, further ensuring that things are safe for reopening. Read on to find out more about how businesses have adapted through the pandemic.

  • Implementation of Perspex Screens Throughout the Stores:  This is something that we are confident each of you reading this has seen while out in your local grocery store. These were some of the first things put into place when the country was placed into a national lockdown. Perspex screens have been put in place to protect those working on the front line in supermarkets, ensuring that customers can be served and have their items scanned while ensuring the worker and the customer’s safety.
  • Increased Levels of Cleanliness in the Stores: Another factor that was implemented in stores early into the pandemic; having adequate sanitisation facilities on offer and regularly cleaning the store, are another way that businesses have adapted and changed to suit the ever-changing climate we are currently faced with. Companies have turned to professional, commercial cleaning services to ensure that the work environments are as sterile as possible, using the likes of Ideal Cleaning and other commercial cleaning companies. To find out more about their work and how they have assisted in businesses adapting to the pandemic, head to their website.
  • Promoting Flexible Working Options: While many of us have been working from home since the first whispers of lockdown were mentioned, flexible working options certainly seem like something that will be prevalent in our working lives beyond the pandemic. Businesses have used this to continue their practices throughout numerous lockdowns and have adapted to fit this into their working models. With more people than ever working from home and wanting to continue doing so even after the pandemic is a distant memory, this is something that businesses should be considering moving forward. Notably, there are some businesses out there who would prefer not to have employees work from home or are simply not able to do so, and that is okay too. By ensuring the working environment has adapted to suit the needs of the pandemic, you can rest assured that your employees will be in a safe place.

These are but some of the many ways that businesses have adapted to suit the requirements of the pandemic, with many other solutions to working practices existing too. The methods that a company uses to adjust is entirely individual and depends on the services that the specific business provides. There is no one size fits all, so do not worry if you are doing something slightly different from your competitors.
