ABERDEEN-based Align People HR have launched L³ – Life Long Leadership™, a training programme which supports the transition of individuals into a people management role by developing essential lifelong leadership skills.

The launch of the programme follows a recent CIPD report that stated a mere 20% of managers in the UK rated themselves as purposeful leaders.  However, the quality and competency of leaders is directly linked to employees’ job satisfaction, whether they find meaning in their work, willingness to ‘go the extra mile’, or have an intention to resign.

L³ is a development programme designed specifically for people managers in SMEs in the UK to aid this challenge.  Over the course of six months, in both virtual groups sessions and focused one to ones, the programme allows people to understand themselves individually as leaders, learn how to develop trusting relationships and influence others more effectively as well as building a high performing team and creating a positive team culture.

The programme has already secured a number of professionals from right across the UK to be part of the first cohort of trainees, from industries including energy transition, business services, manufacturing and technology.

The programme was developed by Align People HR managing director Alison Paton in conjunction with Seren Trewavas, who is a highly respected Chartered Organisational Psychologist, accredited executive coach and Master NLP practitioner.

Alison Paton, MD of Align People HR, who is also Vice-Chair of the CIPD for the North Scotland and Islands branch said: “We are excited to launch our latest programme, and to further support SME’s with growth and development. The programme builds on our own company values of lifelong learning and strongly equips businesses to benefit from a more engaged and motivated workforce.

We are delighted to have partnered with leading industry expert, Seren to developthe programme.  Her vast knowledge and coaching expertise is invaluable and a great asset to the training programme. We wanted to create a program which would allow professionals to develop and transition from technical into management and leadership roles. We believe the programme considers individual needs and brings a positive impact for the business too.”

Seren Trewavas, Chartered Organisational Psychologist and Course Leader commented: “I’ve always had an interest in psychology and a desire to improve the working lives of others. I was excited to be part of this programme, and look forward to being the course leader. The programme covers a variety of learning methods including group work, one to one sessions and online reflective activities. This ensures individuals get the maximum out of the programme, and carry their knowledge back into the workplace, creating a more effective culture.”
