Hunter Adams came 26th on the high profile directory which boasted 579 applicants from a variety of sectors, including recruitment and healthcare. The consultancy also secured 8th place for the wellbeing of staff out of all UK businesses.

The company has seen phenomenal growth in just three years of trading with managing director Dean Hunter at the helm, helping its clients reduce staff turnover from 60 per cent to next to nothing within weeks.

“We believe surveys are not enough to engage people. Our own simple process of independently gauging the feedback from our staff and then taking clear action through an agreed set of commitments has proven to be a winning formula.

“Over the past year we have committed to three things that our team asked for. This includes connecting our staff more closely who are typically on client site, providing a visible career path, and increasing the value and flexibility of the reward package on offer. Recognising individual choice and the power of the individual is critical to engagement,” Mr Hunter said.

“Engagement is not rocket science, and the key to engaging a workforce is that staff know you’re doing it because it is the right thing to do, rather than to make a profit. Profit simply follows as a positive outcome from the hard work.

“In 2014, we doubled our EBITDA from the previous year demonstrating that there are real tangible commercial outcomes from engaging your workforce,” he added.

The Times Top 100 ranking is widely acknowledged as the most extensive research into employee engagement carried out in the UK, and all scores and ratings are based on employee opinions.
