Hutcheon Mearns has appointed Adam Maitland as Managing Director to lead the firm’s move into corporate finance.

Prior to joining Hutcheon Mearns, Adam led PwC’s corporate finance team in Aberdeen, primarily focusing on Oil & Gas and Energy Services transactions across the UK and internationally.  Whilst at PwC, Adam advised on multiple transactions; ranging from Private Equity investments, early stage technology deals, to private business exits and publicly listed transactions.

Adam began his career with Simmons & Company in Aberdeen, a highly regarded, boutique investment bank specialising in Oil & Gas transactions.  During his time at Simmons, Adam gained valuable experience of high profile buy-side, sell-side and finance raising projects.  He also spent time with HSBC in its UK Leveraged Finance team before moving in-house to take up a Corporate Development role with private equity backed Reservoir Group.  Whilst at Reservoir Group, Adam was an integral part of the team responsible for developing and implementing the group’s inorganic and organic strategy; and completed over 15 transactions for the group before its ultimate sale to ALS Ltd for $500m+.

Adam stated, ”I am delighted to be joining Hutcheon Mearns at such a pivotal point in its development.  Craig, Andrew and the team have built a fantastic business that is committed to providing innovative finance solutions and support to clients in what has been a challenging time in the local economy.  Adding a corporate finance and strategic development offering is a natural addition, allowing us to provide a truly integrated, cost effective service to the market.”

In addition to Adam’s appointment, Rick Clark CA has joined the board in a Non-Executive capacity.  Rick brings a wealth of knowledge and senior experience to the board, and is currently CFO at Safehouse Habitats.  For six years prior to joining the team at Safehouse, Rick was Group Finance Director at Reservoir Group, where he oversaw more than 20 acquisitions and led the corporate team during its private equity-backed ownership. As CFO at ALS Oil and Gas during 2013, Rick managed the effective transition of the corporate functions of Reservoir Group into ALS Limited.  Rick was previously a partner for over 15 years with KPMG, specialising in audit and assurance services, but also has significant experience in M&A activity.
