Stonehaven-based Hyve Architects has been shortlisted for another national award with director Nikki Ritchie being nominated as the only Scottish finalist in the Best Renovation/Extension Architect or Designer in the 2018 Build It Awards.

The awards celebrate all aspects of self-build and renovation and recognise innovation and excellence in the sector.

The judging panel particularly considered how the architects and designers had transformed the homeowners’ ideas into their dream homes before selecting just six finalists from across the UK.

The shortlisted Hyve project was the renovation and extension of an Edwardian terraced house within a conservation area in Aberdeen’s Queen’s Road to create more space for a growing family.

“We’re delighted to be shortlisted for this award,” said Nikki. “We worked very closely with the family throughout the process getting to know them and what they liked and disliked. Both they and we were very pleased with the finished result. This award showcases how renovations and extensions can significantly change the scope of an existing property.”

In September, Hyve added to its existing list of industry awards when it won the Velux Maximum Exposure Award, run in conjunction with the Royal Incorporation of Architects Scotland (RIAS), which recognises the innovative vision of designers in Scotland who use Velux products to create inventive and modern designs.

Hyve was set up by Nikki in 2005 and now has a team of five.  The company specialises in residential work ranging from small housing developments to one-off new build homes and extensions, renovations and alterations.
