IKEA has confirmed it will close its Aberdeen Order and Collection Point at Wellington Circle, nine years after it opened in 2016. The retailer said it remains “committed” to the city and is actively exploring alternative locations.

The closure leaves north-east customers with a two-hour drive to the nearest full store in Edinburgh, or around two and a half hours to Glasgow. The company also reiterated plans for a new Plan & Order Point in Dundee, roughly an hour from Aberdeen.

In a statement, IKEA said: “We’ve taken the decision to close our Order and Collection Point in Aberdeen. Our commitment to the city remains and we’re currently exploring new locations in the area. IKEA continues to have a strong presence in Scotland, with stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and a new Plan and Order Point opening in Dundee in the near future.”
