IKM Testing has extended its operational capabilities with the opening of a newly refurbished valve facility at Marywell Commercial Park. The 576m2 indoor workshop, coupled with an extensive 2000m2 yard will provide IKM’s valve division with the dedicated space required to deliver a full suite of onshore and offshore valve management services efficiently, safely and quickly.

Previously operating from the firm’s Westhill facility, the valve team will now benefit from a purpose-built infrastructure tailored to specialised work scopes. The workshop features two dedicated test bays for hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, alongside a dedicated strip and inspection area, all of which are designed to optimise workflow and improve turnaround times for clients.

The facility supports the storage, testing, refurbishment, sales, overhaul and inspection of all valve sizes, significantly increasing capacity. As the Scottish distributor for Seetru Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs), IKM is well positioned to handle greater volumes of work while maintaining its reputation for quality, backed by ISO accreditations and membership of the British Valve and Actuator Association (BVAA).

Barry Summers, Regional Director, commented: “This new facility represents a major milestone for IKM Testing. Not only does it strengthen our valve service offering, but also allows us to support our clients with faster, safer, and more efficient operations. The additional space has also alleviated pressure on our Westhill base, enabling growth across all service lines.”

IKM Testing plans to incorporate an in-house valve academy within the facility, supporting the training and development of apprentices and future valve technicians.

“This commitment to a valve academy will undoubtedly enhance our service capabilities across the board, as we develop specialist valve technicians who are also trained across IKM Testing’s wider service operations,” Barry added.

By investing in the next generation of valve specialists, IKM Testing is strengthening both the internal capabilities and the wider skills base, highlighting their commitment to training and developing the team and providing further career progression opportunities.
