This year’s event titled ‘Industry in Transition: Driving A Net Zero Energy Future’, provides a unique opportunity for the sector to showcase the changing nature of the UK offshore oil and gas industry, just 5 months before COP26.

Following on from the ground-breaking North Sea Transition Deal agreement announced in March, this year’s Conference is drawing delegates from every corner of the sector and beyond. It will focus on the industry’s lead role in helping the UK achieve its target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Each day of the event considers a different aspect of the industry’s transition.

  • Day One is entitled ‘Transforming the Oil and Gas Industry’, creating a sustainable oil and gas industry that will help the UK and the world meet Net-Zero. This session is sponsored by emissions.AI a cloud-based AI solution from OPEX Group.
  • ‘Decarbonising the UK Economy’ on Day Two covers the contribution that the UK’s oil and gas industry can make in decarbonising the UK. This session is sponsored by Baker Hughes.
  • Finally, Day Three – ‘Building a 21st Century Energy Industry’ – considers People and Place and Companies, showcasing the home-grown energy supply chain of the future, considering the opportunities, jobs, careers, and skills it will create at home and abroad. This session is sponsored by ASCO

OGUK Chief Executive, Deirdre Michie OBE, said:

“With the signing of the North Sea Transition Deal in March, and COP26 quickly approaching, 2021 is undoubtably one of the most important years for the industry in decades.

“This year’s annual conference, just five months away from the summit in Glasgow, gives us a unique opportunity to showcase the crucial work our industry is doing to accelerate toward a net zero energy future.

“We’re delighted to be joined by such a wealth of expertise across the three days, with senior leaders set to wrestle with the key issues facing our industry today around the energy transition.

Commenting, Senior Vice President, North Sea, bp, Emeka Emembolu said:

“The energy transition will take collaboration like we’ve never seen before. That will be collaboration between industry, Government, regulators and, increasingly, with the more challenging voices. Events like the OGUK Conference keep those lines of collaboration open, enabling constructive dialogue with a wide-range of stakeholders that can help move our collective ambition forward. It is also motivating for our teams to see the good work that they are doing be shared broadly.”
