INVERURIE-based kitchen, bathroom and bedroom retailer Laings has been shortlisted for three national awards at the annual kbbreview Retail & Design Awards.
The business is a contender in the Kitchen Showroom, Kitchen Retailer and Bathroom Retailer of the Year categories.

The company was previously named UK Showroom of the Year and UK Retailer of the Year in March 2020, just prior to the pandemic, and was shortlisted in three categories in the 2021 kbbreview Retail & Design Awards which was delayed from March to September.
The shortlist was announced just prior to Christmas as the business took stock of an unprecedented year.
“We are honoured to have been recognised by the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards, especially as we move into our 160th year in business,” said Darren Walker, Director.
“The closure of retailers in the winter lockdown was a real challenge for the business, but one we were able to overcome as it coincided with a period of rapid growth in our Commercial Division, especially for our Kitchen Contracts team.
“Despite the uncertainties caused by the pandemic, we didn’t stand still and instead concentrated our efforts on refurbishing our showroom, ultimately launching our new Virtual Reality Theatre and Bedroom & Home Office showroom.”
“The second half of the year saw our Retail Division experience its busiest trading period in many years and our Installations Service is booked into the spring.”
It is the fifth time in six years that Laings has been shortlisted in the Showroom and Retailer categories at the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards. The independent kitchen, bathroom and bedroom retailer is one of the UK’s largest and will celebrate 160 years in business in 2022. The firm remains a family business and is still based in Inverurie, its hometown since its inception in 1862.
“We hope to celebrate our 160th anniversary in business with a series of special events in our showroom, but if that’s not possible, attending the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards and being listed amongst the most innovative and creative KBB retailers in the country is a very fitting way to mark it,” adds Mr Walker.
The kbbreview Retail & Design Awards are the most prestigious national awards within the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom retail sector and will be held in Birmingham on Monday 7th March.
