Aberdeen Performing Arts is inviting audiences to Delve into the North Isles at the Lemon Tree this February, with a weekend of music, food, film, spoken word and more celebrating the rich culture of Orkney and Shetland.
Taking place from Friday, February 6 to Sunday, February 8, the entire weekend will be curated by acclaimed Shetland fiddle player Chris Stout.
Aberdeen Performing Arts Head of Creative Engagement, Susan Whyte, said: “There will be a very warm welcome at the Lemon Tree to everyone joining us for this very special weekend. We can’t think of anyone better placed than Chris to take us through the rich and varied artistry of Shetland and Orkney, joined by an exceptional line-up of performers.
“Expect creativity, connection and culture in this one-off event.”
Commenting ahead of the festival, Chris Stout said: “It is a great honour to be joining forces with Aberdeen Performing Arts and curating ‘Delve’ 2026. As a native Shetlander who has made music his career and been so fortunate to travel the world and work with some of the most incredible artists, it is a true labour of love to be able to get underneath the skin of both my beloved Shetland Islands and our nearest and dearest friends in Orkney.
“Social gathering and celebration are so important to Orkney and Shetland folk alike. Being together in these seemingly isolated islands, warming our souls during long periods of what can be harsh winter months or just celebrating the lightening of the days – showing collective appreciation for and taking in all the creative pursuits of talented individuals has been so important to me as I pieced together the programme.”
Delve 2026 opens on Friday, February 6 at the Lemon Tree with a concert showcasing two of Shetland’s leading contemporary duos. Norman Wilmore and Corrie Dick will be joined by Chris Stout and Catriona McKay, with a special guest appearance from renowned Orkney singer songwriter Kris Drever.
Fresh from a triumphant sell out at the Barrowlands Ballroom as part of Celtic Connections, Saturday, February 7 sees ultimate Orkney party band The Chair bring their exhilarating brand of Orkney Stomp, blues and rock infused traditional music to Delve, while across the weekend the venue will see a range of fiddle workshops, film screenings and storytelling and poetry.
The festival culminates on Sunday evening with a joyful ‘Sunday Stramash’ to round off a fantastic weekend an energetic set from Orkney six-piece Haverin, with their signature blend of indie folk and country-infused charm. This will be followed by a lively session featuring special guest musicians from the Delve weekend, all coming together to collaborate live on the Lemon Tree stage for an epic finale!
