ITF launches tech talk events to support oil & gas technology development

The Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) is launching a series of tech talk events to support and promote the developer community and increase interaction with oil & gas operators.

The organisation’s Innovation Network Tech Talk events will provide a platform for developers to showcase innovative and leading technologies to ITF members and the wider industry.

The first of the free events will be held at the Chester Hotel, Aberdeen on Wednesday, June 28 at 5pm.

Premier Oil’s Tammie Sebire will join ITF CEO, Dr Patrick O’Brien by providing an overview of industry needs from an operator perspective. A number of ITF’s Innovation Network technology developers will then host an interactive session to showcase their technology and how they can assist some of the challenges facing the industry.

ITF launched its global online Innovation Network last year to raise the profile of oil and gas SMEs direct to its membership of operator and service companies. The Innovation Network is an active online community enabling oil and gas SMEs to promote their technologies and services direct to end users and also keep up to date with the latest technology needs of the industry.

Dr Patrick O’Brien, CEO of ITF said: “These events complement our Innovation Network in bringing together our members with developers that could potentially solve some of their costly challenges.

“If we are going to have a sustainable industry with a lower for longer price then new technology is going to play a vital role in achieving that sustainability. We hope these tech talks will increase the dialogue between technology developers and key industry players.”

Tammie Sebire, Technical Project Authority at Premier Oil said: “In the current environment it is even more important than ever, for both oil and service companies, to work together to get things moving in our industry. The key focus will be on implementing current and new cost effective technology quickly and not be frightened to challenge existing paradigms. A major area that is a must for collaboration is in decommissioning.”
