Aberdeen Performing Arts and Crossroads Pantomimes have today [Thursday 22 May] announced that Scottish acting royalty and Strictly Come Dancing winner Joe McFadden, alongside Shetland and Monarch of the Glen star Dawn Steele, will lead the cast of Cinderella this festive season at His Majesty’s Theatre. Joe McFadden will step into the role of Prince Charming, while Dawn Steele will play the Fairy Godmother.

Joe McFadden is best known for his roles as Raf di Lucca in Holby City, motorbike officer Joe Mason in Heartbeat, and for winning Strictly Come Dancing. His extensive television credits also include Dr Jack Marshland in Cranford, Alistair in Casualty, Prentice McHoan in The Crow Road, Dallas McCabe in Sex, Chips and Rock n’ Roll, as well as appearances in Sparkhouse, Judge John Deed, The Law, High Road, and Taggart.

Most recently, Dawn Steele portrayed Stella Quinn in Shetland, a role which earned her a nomination for a Scottish RTS Award.

She has also been a series regular as DCI Cora MacMillan in Granite Harbour. Dawn is well known for her roles as Lexie MacDonald in the hit BBC drama Monarch of the Glen, Alice Trevanion in the ITV drama Wild At Heart, Dr Annie Jandhu in BBC’s River City, and Ange Godard in Holby City.

Joining Joe and Dawn will be the much-loved panto dame extraordinaire Alan McHugh, who once again writes and directs the production, returning as Baroness Heifer McHardup.

HMT stalwart Paul J Corrigan makes a welcome return as Buttons, while panto favourite Danielle Jam will take on the title role of Cinderella. Returning star Julie Coombe and acclaimed performer Helen Logan will team up as the Wicked Sisters.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Chief Executive, Sharon Burgess, said: “We are thrilled that the fabulous Joe and Dawn are joining us for what is sure to be an unforgettable festive season at HMT.

“The addition of Helen alongside our lovely Julie Coombe is a genius pairing for our wicked sisters, and of course we can’t wait to welcome back our beloved panto dame Alan McHugh for his 21st year.

“We are equally excited to be joined once again by the talented and wonderful Danielle Jam and Paul J Corrigan for a magical panto with Cinderella.”

Cinderella is staged by Crossroads Pantomimes, the world’s largest pantomime producer, led by Chief Executive Michael Harrison and the creative team behind last year’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk.
