With a key objective of John Lawrie Group to maximise reuse and recycling and minimise disposal of waste, the company saw the opportunity to diversify into decommissioning over 20 years ago. The company has since been successfully carrying out decommissioning projects involving the dismantling of large oilfield structures and subsea infrastructure.

Managing Director of John Lawrie’s Metal division, Dave Weston, said: “We are delighted to welcome Julian to the team, his wealth of experience in decommissioning will be invaluable.

We have progressively developed our expertise in the dismantling, processing, recycling and disposal of a range of redundant materials and now we have Julian on board we can continue to evolve this part of the business.”

Julian commented: “With activity increasing within the decommissioning market, and work continuing apace towards opening our new Dundee quayside facility in 2020, I am excited to be joining John Lawrie at this time and look forward to working closely with the team to develop and support the Group’s continued expansion within this area.”

Julian, a keen cyclist and Secretary of the Montvélo Cycling Club in Montrose, will be based at John Lawrie’s UK headquarters on Greenbank Road in Aberdeen’s East Tullos industrial Estate.
