JoJo Maman Bébé welcomed the first shoppers to its new store within the Bon Accord mall last week in what is the brand’s first outlet within the north-east of Scotland.
Plans for the new store were warmly received when they were announced at the start of the year, with shoppers taking to social media to express their delight at the brand’s venture into Aberdeen.
The outlet is the latest addition to Bon Accord & St Nicholas’ growing range of high profile brands and will stock a number of JoJo’s successful ranges including baby, children’s wear, maternity and nursing.
Craig Stevenson, manager of Bon Accord & St Nicholas, said: “The feedback we received on announcing the arrival of JoJo Maman Bébé was incredibly positive and it became apparent straightaway that there was an enthusiasm from our shoppers towards this unique and exciting brand.
“At Bon Accord & St Nicholas, we’re always looking at ways to enhance the shopping experience for those who visit us and we believe that JoJo will certainly do just that. The store’s opening has already created a buzz within the mall and we look forward to continuing to welcome its first visitors this week.”
Laura Tenison, founder and managing director of JoJo, said: “Our multi-channel retail strategy also helps other independent businesses in the area, even if they are of a competitive nature. We will email customers within a 30 mile radius and incentivise them to visit the town and our store. They are likely to spend time with neighbouring retailers and cafés as well as our new store, so it’s a win-win situation for all of us. Our teams are given in-depth training at our head office in Wales and really understand the needs of pregnant women and new parents.”
The opening of JoJo Maman Bébé follows Bon Accord & St Nicholas’ recent approval of planning permission to create a new leisure hub within the centres. At the core of the blueprint is a proposed 28,000sq ft cinema complex and seven new restaurants totalling 30,000sq ft.
The innovative design includes the creation of a new entrance from Upperkirkgate at Drum’s Lane, leading to an external courtyard and providing access to the upper level of the mall where the new leisure area would be situated. The plans work within the existing footprint of the Bon Accord mall.
Bon Accord & St Nicholas are at the heart of Aberdeen city centre’s retail sector, offering 840,000 sq ft of prime space and home to around 100 stores. Scotland’s largest Next, Aberdeen’s only Topshop and Topman standalone store as well as the City’s largest New Look and River Island are among the key retailers.
The centres, which attract an average of 270,000 visitors a week, are owned by F&C REIT and managed by specialist retail agency Savills. For further on the centres visit www.bonaccordandstnicholas.com
