A NORTH-east accountant has been appointed to a key local role in an organisation that promotes professional development and networking within the profession.

Greg Houston, of award-winning Aberdeen accountancy practice Infinity Partnership, has been named chair of the ACCA Aberdeen and North of Scotland Network.

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the global professional accounting body that offers the chartered certified accountant qualification.

Greg, associate director at Infinity, said: “ACCA plays a significant part in developing the careers of accountants and I’m honoured to be taking on this role within the region. I’m looking forward to engaging with the membership to help them achieve further success.  The panel is looking for all members in the area to engage with us so we can ensure we organise events that meet their needs and add value to their membership.”

Previously a panel member on the Network, Greg heads up all ACCA activity at Infinity. He led the process for Infinity to become an ACCA-accredited employer, a platinum-level ACCA approved trainer and a Practising Certificate Approved Employer. Greg won the 2018 Accountant of the Year accolade at the IRIS Awards in London.

Infinity has won at the British Accountancy Awards for the fifth year in a row, most recently winning two awards – Outstanding Advisory / Project of the Year and Independent Firm of the Year (Scotland, Northern Ireland and North England) – the fourth time in five years it has won a regional award at this event.

The business has completed more than 80 M&A deals, worth more than £300m, since 2011 and is also a research and development tax credit specialist. More than 80% of its clients are involved in the energy sector. Infinity Partnership, which is based at Carden Place in the West End of the city, has a team of 24.
