KPMG has announced three key promotions as it prepares to open the doors to its new Marischal Square offices in the city.

In the firm’s Audit team, Michelle Smarsh has been promoted to director, while Simon Smith becomes associate director in restructuring and Armen Balasanyan has been promoted to audit manager.

Commenting on her promotion, Michelle, said: “It’s been an incredibly challenging period for the Aberdeen economy, but we’ve proved time and again that the city and its businesses are incredibly resilient and always focused on long-term sustainability and growth.

“I’m proud to be a part of that story at KPMG, having transferred permanently to the UK after initially being seconded here from Canada.

“KPMG can trace its roots back to the north east of Scotland. We’re part of the fabric of the region and our new office, recruitment drive and promotions reaffirm that commitment.”

Martin Findlay, Aberdeen senior partner, added: “The lockdown has been tough on all colleagues so it is great to be able to announce the latest round of promotions which reinforces our commitment to invest in talent and serve the communities we’re part of across the country.”
