A NORTH-EAST agency has launched a website for local food businesses worldwide to promote their services for free during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The developers of the website, digital marketing agency Red Evolution, would like to see the site being used nationally and internationally as a single resource for anyone looking for a safe way to buy food while supporting local businesses.

Adverts on localfoodinfo.com are free for bars, restaurants, greengrocers, bakers, butchers and other food suppliers.

They are encouraged to include details of their website, the food on offer, their location and whether they offer collection or delivery services.

Dave Robinson, Red Evolution managing director, said:  “As soon as social distancing came into place, we saw many small local food suppliers immediately pivot and start delivery or takeaway services. These are incredibly difficult times for many business owners and their adaptability and willingness to offer what their customers need right now is the key to survival. “
