Allego, a leading electric vehicle (EV) destination and en-route charging network in the UK and Europe, has strengthened its presence in North East Scotland with the opening of two new ultra-fast charging sites.

Located in Kintore and Banchory, each site features four high-powered connectors (up to 300kw) and is conveniently situated next to Co-op stores, allowing drivers to charge during retail visits.

They are among first ultra-fast charging locations in these communities and are strategically positioned along the A96 and A93 – providing faster charging for local drivers while also serving those travelling through the region.

The new sites are also among a limited number of ultra-fast charge points currently available across Aberdeenshire.

The openings come as EV sales continue to rise across the UK, with nearly one in four new vehicles sold in 2025 being fully electric, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Paz Sharma, Managing Director of Allego UK, said: “These new sites are part of Allego’s wider plan to expand ultra-fast charging across the UK.

“By investing in communities with limited or no access and placing chargers on transport routes, we provide reliable high-speed charging where it’s needed most.

“This supports both local drivers and commuters and helps meet the growing demand from a rapidly expanding EV market.”

He added that Allegro is now looking to deepen its presence in these locations, actively exploring partnerships with surrounding businesses and venues to encourage drivers to plug in while also supporting footfall and boosting the local economy.
