A Robert Gordon University law graduate who first joined Ledingham Chalmers as a legal secretary 27 years ago with the corporate team will walk through the firm’s doors next year as a trainee solicitor.
Wendy Harris originally joined the full-service firm in 1992 and has been a paralegal with the corporate team in Aberdeen since 2013. She will continue to focus on corporate work when her traineeship starts.

Another graduate, Laila Kennedy, will join Wendy in the 2020 trainee intake after completing her diploma year at the University of Aberdeen. She has been an intern with the firm since 2018 in the litigation team. Laila’s also a Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association committee member and is company treasurer at the Aberdeen Law Project.
And intern Naomi Davies, who graduated from the University of Aberdeen recently with her diploma, will start her traineeship in the private client team in August.
In the litigation team, Rosie Allan will take up a post as a newly-qualified solicitor in August after transferring her traineeship from another firm.
Firm chairman and partner Jennifer Young said: “From the lecture hall to the office itself, I know how hard all four have worked to get to this point, and I expect each and every one will bring something special to the firm.
“In particular, it’s been a pleasure to have Wendy as part of the team for so long, and I’m sure the experience she’s gained throughout her career will prove invaluable in the future.”
The firm has offices in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Inverness and Stirling and has 178 staff, including 32 partners.
