STAFF at legal firm Balfour+Manson took on a range of challenges focused on the number 100 to kick off their fundraising push for new Aberdeen charity partner, AberNecessities.

To mark what would have been the 101th birthday of Captain Tom Moore, the Aberdeen team took on their own challenges ranging from cycling, running  and even dancing to 70’s tunes for 100 minutes.

The firm has already raised more than £1200 from the weekend, to be split between AberNecessities and Scottish-based mental health charity Health in Mind.

Staff at the firm’s office in Carden Place, Aberdeen, chose to support AberNecessities as their 2021 Charity, which aims to reduce the impact of poverty on children in the North-East.

Julie Clark-Spence, who heads up Balfour+Manson’s Aberdeen office, said:

“It was wonderful to see so many of our Aberdeen team getting involved.  It was great fun for a very worthwhile cause.

Every child deserves the best start possible in life, and AberNecessities aims to ensure that the children of disadvantaged families across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire have the basics they need. Balfour+Manson is very pleased to support their vital work.”

AberNecessities Founder, Danielle Flecher-Horn said:

“We rely on the generosity of our community and fundraising to make our work possible, and the support of Balfour + Manson will help us make sure we can continue to support families and children across the North-East.

We are determined to help underprivileged families across the city and shire to ensure no child goes without; partners like Balfour + Manson are truly helping make that happen.”

Stephanie Zak, a Partner who heads up Balfour+Manson’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, said:

“It was an amazing weekend effort by the firm for #CaptainTom100 – and a brilliant start to our fundraising year. As restrictions ease, we will do more team fundraising activities in 2021.  They are a great way to promote positive mental health by bringing work colleagues together in shared, fun activities.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be working with AberNecessities and with Health in Mind, and we all look forward to some fun fundraising to help both these great charities throughout 2021.”

Mental Health Awareness week [starting on Monday 10th May] is the next big fundraising focus, as well as initiatives like  #HelloMojo, which challenges people to break an unhelpful habit or start a brand new positive habit to help get your mojo back.
