VATTENFALL, the leading renewable energy developer, is holding a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event in Aberdeenshire, so that lead contractors can meet potential subcontractors as it readies for the construction of the 14 turbine Clashindarroch II wind farm.
To ensure that communities and local companies benefit, the developer’s lead contractors will be looking to identify supply chain companies in the area who can work on their local wind farm’s construction.
Vattenfall is inviting the more than 1000 suppliers already registered to its portal, and a wide range of organisations across the Highlands including local Chambers of Commerce, Highlands & Islands Renewables Group.
Representatives from Skills Development Scotland will also attend for discussions around Vattenfall’s plans to create 50 apprenticeships through its supply chain in Scotland by 2030.

There are a wide range of services and suppliers required to build and operate a wind farm including construction, drainage, and fencing contractors; materials suppliers and building merchants; plant hire and security; fuel providers and waste management, and local hospitality providers and car hire.
The Meet the Buyer is the very first event to be held in No 30 The Square, a Listed former department store in the centre of Huntly that has been comprehensively refurbished.
The project to create a community space, has been part-funded by Clashindarroch I community benefit funds [note 5] alongside a range of other national and regional funders. No 30 The Square is run by Huntly Development Trust and now houses a café, cinema/performance space, co-working facilities, learning and training space, a multi-purpose gallery and a shop.
