The global subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines market is estimated to be worth in the region of £5billion, with further growth in the sector expected to come from the increase in offshore renewables. Umbilicals form a key component in the oil and gas industry, particularly for subsea operations as they transfer power, fluids and control signals between surface facilities and underwater assets.
Delegates will hear from operators, contractors, installers and manufacturers about the current market opportunities and challenges they face in this global industry, and those they anticipate as it grows in the years ahead. Speakers at the conference include representatives of Alleima, BP, Fibron, JDR Cable Systems, Oceaneering, SEA Enterprises, Siemens Energy, Subsea7 and TechnipFMC.
Neil Gordon, Global Underwater Hub chief executive, said: “This is the fourth umbilicals conference we have held in conjunction with the Umbilical Manufacturers’ Federation and it continues to draw a strong line-up of speakers. Attendees will hear a broad spectrum of perspectives from the speakers around how safety, performance and reliability of umbilicals can be enhanced in order to effectively and efficiently support the energy transition.
“Umbilicals are a vital component of oil and gas production, and the science and engineering expertise is set to influence the development of dynamic cables for the floating offshore wind sector. For all those with a vested interest in umbilical manufacture and usage, this brings not only new market prospects, but hurdles that will need overcome.”
The 2024 Umbilicals Conference is being held in the event studio at Global Underwater Hub’s office in Westhill, Aberdeen, from 09:30 on Tuesday, 20 October. For further information visit the Global Underwater Hub website at www.globalunderwaterhub.com/events.
