Local business owners granted extra time to perfect Elevator Awards applications

Business representatives hoping to gain recognition for their hard work in the North-east’s most prestigious business awards have been granted an extra week to perfect their entries.

The closing date for award entries in the Elevator Awards 2015, formerly known as the Grampian Awards for Business Excellence, was set for tomorrow (Friday 6 March), but Elevator and headline sponsor RBS – Ahead for Business, have extended the closing date to Friday 13 March.

The awards seek to encourage enterprise and entrepreneurship by elevating companies and individuals that are capable of leading the future prosperity of the region to the next level.

Each year, hundreds of businesses register in one or more of the ten high profile award categories commendingbusiness excellence, entrepreneurial spirit, community engagement, employerdedication to staff development, and individuals who make a significant impact on the business community. The Awards, now in their 16th year, will have 30finalists, competing for the Elevator Awards trophy in June 2015.

Chief executive of Elevator, Professor Gary McEwan, said: “The Elevator Awards 2015 support and showcase the very best in success of entrepreneurship in business in the Grampian region. We want businesses to submit entries that they are proud of and extending the closing date for the awards will allow businesses a little more time to fine tune their entries.

“The North-east is full of diverse businesses and a number of extremely successful businessmen and women which we think is worth shouting about. It is really important that they are recognised for their hard work and achievements and the Elevator Awards are a great opportunity to highlight this and raise their credibility within the community and other areas.”

Winner of last year’s emerging entrepreneur awards category, managing director of Monkey Bars Aberdeen, Ben Iravani, commented: “I was actually shy about entering the category, but thought I would put myself out there and I was delighted to pick up the award.

“Entering is a great platform for your business and definitely brought me a lot of benefits, including great PR and the exposure has helped in loads of different aspects including business growth. I would definitely encourage people to enter this year.”

Final applications must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 13 March 2015.

The black tie awards ceremony will be held at the Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel and Spa on Thursday 25 June 2015.
