Local Businesses Come Together To Create Festive Fun For Northfield Children

29/11/2024

A group of children from Northfield Community Centre enjoyed an early festive treat yesterday evening, thanks to the generosity of Christmas tree grower, Scottish Christmas Trees at Tyrebagger (SCT Retail).

Some 30 youngsters headed to Tyrebagger, located on the A96 between Dyce and Blackburn, where they picked their own Christmas tree to take back to the city centre.

The children were taken to the woods by Aberdeen-headquartered transport group, First Bus, who donated a 38-seater coach to ensure that everyone who wanted to make the trip was able to attend.

A team from street food provider, Food Truck Management, was also on hand and provided hot food and drinks for the visitors.

Northfield Community Centre’s manager, Jacqui Innes, who won the Celebrate Aberdeen’ Heart of the Community’ award at a recent event held in the city’s The Chester Hotel, said: “We’re beyond grateful to Scottish Christmas Trees for getting in touch with us about this incredible offer, as well as First Bus and Food Truck Management for making this such a special trip for us all.

“We were so well looked after from the minute we got on the coach in Northfield and we cannot thank everyone enough.

“Many of our children wouldn’t have had the opportunity to pick their own Christmas tree,  and so the trip was really magical and definitely got us all in the festive spirit.”

Keni Willis, company director SCT Retail said: “Christmas is such a special time, particularly for children, and so we thought what better way to make a difference to Northfield Community Centre’s festive preparations than by letting the children choose their own tree.

“It was so lovely seeing them all enjoy themselves at such a special time of year and incredibly rewarding to see them so excited, with huge smiles on their faces throughout the visit.”

Scottish Christmas Trees at Tyrebagger is currently selling Christmas trees and is open every day from 10am to 6pm, with an 8pm close on Thursday.
