Aberdeen businesswoman Karen Molloy is urging people to put on their running or walking shoes and cover 1,000 miles in 2018 to raise £150,000 for local children’s charity, Charlie House.
Karen, a partner in local recruitment agency Thorpe Molloy, will be taking on the challenge herself while raising sponsorship and is encouraging people across the North-east to take on the challenge.

She said: “Charlie House is such a fantastic organisation, doing some incredibly worthy work. For it to continue to support the children and enhance the lives of so many families throughout Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and beyond, it’s vital that we continue to help the team raise much needed funds.
“While 1,000 miles over a 12 month period isn’t an insignificant challenge, it’s also the sort of goal which is possible for most people.
“In fact for those wishing to adopt a more healthy lifestyle next year, this campaign provides a perfect way to do so, while raising money for an amazing cause at the same time.
“We are keen to encourage people of all ages and abilities to run or walk the challenge, either as an individual or by joining with friends and accumulating 1,000 miles as a team.”
Charlie House was established in 2011 to help make life better for babies, children and young people with complex disabilities and life-limiting conditions, and to support their parents and siblings.
Susan Crighton, Director Of Fundraising, Charlie House said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Karen for all her help and support, not just through this latest initiative, but since she began raising funds for Charlie House back in 2013.
“We look forward to supporting her and all those who embark on the 1,000 mile campaign to raise money through sponsorship so that we can build on the services we currently offer.
“There are approximately 1500 families in the North-east of Scotland who have a child with complex disabilities and life-limiting conditions, who we are keen to provide support for if needed. Initiatives like Karen’s go such a long way in helping.”
