CLAN Cancer Support’s highly anticipated annual Lunch, which was held at the Marcliffe Hotel on Friday 13th May 2022, raised in excess of £12,500 which will be used to offer support to people affected by cancer in the north-east. It is the north-east charity’s first in-person event since 2019.
The afternoon was sponsored by bp, who have continually shown support for the charity through sponsoring events, like the lunch in past years.

A live auction and a raffle helped to contribute to the overall fundraising total. The money raised will be used by Clan’s centres across the north-east including Shetland, Orkney, Moray and Aberdeenshire, as well as in Aberdeen.
During the afternoon, Clan’s Chief Executive, Fiona Fernie spoke about the impact of covid on people affected by cancer and the support Clan gave individuals and families throughout the last 2 years. She also introduced David, a client that had used Clan’s services and tells you in his video about how Clan was a significant part of his journey following his wife, Jodie’s diagnosis and passing. David shared his story to highlight how important emotional support is to cancer patients and their loved ones.
Fiona says: “It was fantastic to see so many people attend the Clan Lunch on Friday 13thMay. It is a true testament to our supporters of their generosity that we raised over £12,500 on the day which will go towards supporting people affected by cancer across the north-east of Scotland.”
“For over 38 years, Clan has developed specialist knowledge and understanding of how a diagnosis of cancer impacts, not just the person diagnosed, but also their wider circle of family and friends. We wouldn’t have been able to continue this without the generosity and unwavering support of those we welcomed to events like the Lunch on Friday. It is this type of support that ensured Clan could weather the storm over the last 2 years to continue delivering our vital cancer support services.”
“Clan is enormously grateful to sponsors, bp, who have supported the lunch in previous years and have done so again.”
“Thank you to our MC Steven Innes, the Marcliffe Hotel, and everyone who made it along to our event as well as those who kindly donated prizes to go towards the afternoon. We anticipate next year’s lunch will be bigger and better than ever.”
