ARCADIA Bar & Games, the popular retro video games venue in Aberdeen City, is hosting an exciting event for local youths’ charities. The charities We Too!, Befriend a Child, Charlie House and Jak’s Den are at the top of the guest list – inviting youngsters who use their services to attend the event for free and be the first of their age bracket to experience the venue in a fun-filled, brand new session.

Phionna McInnes, founder of the WeToo! Charity, said: “We are delighted to have been invited along to the Under 18s Takeover event, it offers a great opportunity for younger people to experience the venue, many of which we know love retro gaming. We have a long-standing relationship with the team behind Arcadia and we’re thrilled to continue to build on this with the plans we have collaborated on, for Relaxed Sessions in the near future. They have done an amazing job with the venue and we’re excited to be part of and included with their future plans.”

During this special Saturday afternoon event, the venue will be open to a younger audience  who will be able to play games and enjoy a selection of mocktails or soft drinks.

A special giveaway competition is also being hosted by Arcadia Bar & Games, in which a select few spaces for the Saturday session will be up for grabs with parent and child passes being given away. To enter this giveaway, interested individuals can visit the Facebook page of Arcadia Bar & Games to find the featured competition post.

Gillian Gallan, Arcadia Bar & Games General Manager, commented: “Since we opened the venue in March, we have received an overwhelming amount of interest from parents wanting to share nostalgia with their kids at our venue. The team have been planning these takeover sessions to allow families to try something different and we thought – what better way to launch this, than by inviting local charities who we work closely with, to be the first to benefit. We already host a discounted student night each Wednesday as part of our connection with the Aberdeen community, however we are excited to use the Under 18s Takeover as an opportunity to further that connection.”

Arcadia is known for its retro arcade games including Pac Man, Space Invaders , Donkey Kong, Dancing Stage, Guitar Hero and Street Fighter. These are complimented by classic pinball, skeeball, air hockey, pool tables and basketball games. The venue also has a huge LCD screen showing live sports, curated music playlists, and a BiG Mannys’ Pizza counter where visitors can enjoy slices of Detroit-style pizza.

In addition to the charity event on Saturday, there will also be a Sunday session on 21st May which is open to those who purchase tickets. Seating and gaming spaces for the Sunday session are limited, making it necessary for individuals to book their tickets in advance.
