Local groups and individuals are being invited to sign up to a charity fundraising campaign that would gain favour from the likes of business mogul Sir Alan Sugar.
The Apprentice-style challenge, entitled ‘Venture’, will see teams being gifted £100 directly from their employer, or individually contributed, and then given 8 weeks to turn the initial cash into as much charitable funds as possible. All money raised will go directly to Charlie House to support their plans for a specialist support centre which will be built in the grounds of Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen.
The 8-week challenge will culminate in an awards ceremony at Ardoe House on Thursday 28th March for the teams to celebrate their fundraising success and will recognise achievements such as Most Supportive Team Lead, Most Innovative Fundraising Idea, Greatest Team Spirit and Best Business Plan.
The judging panel will include local entrepreneur Bob Keiller who is hugely supportive of the initiative.
The winning team will not only be crowned Charlie House Venture 2019 champions but will also be gifted tickets to attend Bob Keiller’s Effective Business Storytelling workshop, valued at £1,000 per person.
Venture is open to anyone over the age of 18 and team entries must be received by Friday 14th December. Each team is to be made up of four to six team members.
Susan Crighton, Director of fundraising for Charlie House, says, “Our dream is to have a purpose-built specialist centre here in Aberdeen to provide planned and emergency short breaks, palliative and end-of-life care for children and Venture will play a vital role in this, as all funds raised will go directly towards building this facility. The incredible fundraising efforts of the Venture teams will also be recognised publicly within the building once it is constructed.”
Campbell Urquhart, Co-organiser of Venture 2019 and local businessman, says, “As part of the Venture 2019 judging panel, we are inviting teams to get creative – there’s no limit to what you can do to raise funds, as long as it’s safe and legal! You could hold an event – quiz night, fun day, beat the boss or concert, take part in sponsored activities or sell products or services. It really is a great team challenge to get combined minds working together for the best outcome.”
Bob Keiller says, “Venture 2019 is not only a fantastic team building and engagement exercise for local organisations but also provides an excellent opportunity to practice and improve your entrepreneurial skills in a fun way. It’s also a great way to help forge stronger relationships and collaborative working. Most importantly, not only will teams help raise vital funds for the Charlie House specialist support centre but also, help spread awareness about the charity and the work they do.”
