WE TOO!, a local children’s charity supporting neurodivergent families in Northeast Scotland, is hosting a second Aberdeen event for women with ADHD. The event, “You, Me & ADHD,” will take place on June 10 at Union Kirk.
We Too! works to create inclusive community events and resources for families with neurodivergent children. Their free quarterly magazine reaches over 28,500 readers in Northeast Scotland. Chief Executive, Phionna McInnes herself diagnosed for many years is looking to expand support to the adult ADHD community, particularly women, who often face unique challenges in managing their condition.
At “You, Me & ADHD,” women will have the opportunity to connect over shared experiences of living with ADHD. Due to overwhelming positive feedback from the first event, ADHDAF Bingo will be revisited alongside tips and tricks for organization from professional organizer The Tidy Coo and life coaching advice from Zoe Joanne. The afternoon will also have a clothing swap session, giving opportunity to exchange some of those impulse purchases! Tickets are £12. 0 and available on Eventbrite.
“ADHD is a highly misunderstood condition, and women face extra stigma in getting diagnosed and treated,” said Phionna of We Too! “Our goal with this event is to bring women together to share support and advice in a fun, low-pressure environment. We want women to leave feeling empowered and equipped with new strategies for thriving with ADHD.
We Too! has partnered with local podcasters ADHDAF to provide content with the afternoon after Phionna appeared in some of their podcases. The event has been subsidised through funding from Aberdeen City Health & Wellbeing Partnership’s Health Improvement Fund.
In Case You Missed it:
“The challenges of ADHD do not define us, but together we can navigate them,” said Phionna. “We hope this event inspires more community support for adults with ADHD and brings much-needed awareness to the experiences of women in particular.
