The Silver Darling, which was first launched in 1986 by chef proprietor Didier Dejean following his relocation from the South of France with his family, is renowned as one of the best seafood restaurants in the city.

The McGinty’s Group officially took over the Silver Darling on Saturday 30th September with the current staff remaining.

Director of The McGinty’s Group, Allan Henderson, said: “We are truly delighted to welcome the iconic Silver Darling into our growing hospitality portfolio. This a unique venue and one that we have long admired and adding it to our family group is a proud moment for us.

“The Silver Darling has built up a very reputable name in the seafood sector, and as a ‘Fittie Loon’, I have always held a fond affiliation with the area and what Didier has achieved at The Silver Darling over the last 31 years.”

Operations Director, Alan Aitken, added: “We are a local business with customers at the heart of what we do and this will continue to be a key focus for the Silver Darling whilst we work hard to develop the venue. We are really excited to explore the potential of the Silver Darling and ultimately showcase what a fantastic restaurant and setting it is.”

Chef proprietor, Didier, continued: “I am delighted to hand The Silver Darling over to a well-run locally owned business after 31 fantastic years and I am very pleased that all staff are being kept on. I wish them every success for the future.”
