Local Malaysian Restaurant Wins National Awards

Just a little over a year from opening, An Aberdeen-based Malaysian has won “The Best Malaysian Restaurant of the Year” at The Scottish Asian Food Awards and “Best Family Friendly Restaurant 2018” at the Spice Awards 2018.

Selera Bistro, based at 19 Correction Wynd, Aberdeen, was praised for its food quality and authentic menu bringing something new and unique to the Aberdeen restaurant market.

At the SPICE Awards Selera Bistro saw off competition from 9 other finalists in its category which included some of the finest ethnic restaurants across Scotland.

Normala Abd Rahman, owner of Selera Bistro commented “We are delighted after such a short time in Aberdeen to have been recognised by winning this award.  Selera has become a place where families and friends get together and a place where associates meet with their clients not just from Malaysia or UK, but from all over the world while at the same time enjoying our authentic cuisines. We would like to thank our dedicated team and our loyal customers for their continued support.”

Adrian Watson from Aberdeen Inspired commented that “it was great to see this restaurant building its reputation for quality Malaysian food right in the heart of our great city.  We look forward to seeing Selera Bistro going forward for more success in 2019.“

Irfan Younis, of the Scottish Asian Food Awards said: “We would like to congratulate all of the winners and finalists of the first ever Scottish Asian Food Awards 2018. The evening was a huge success, particularly given the fact that this was the first award of its kind in Scotland.”

In addition, Selera Bistro believes in giving back the community and as part of its Community Social Services, Selera Bistro plays an active role and contribute to the Foodbox Project, which is providing food to the needful and those who do not have excess to hot food.
