A LEADING optician and hearing care provider in Aberdeen has raised more than £1,000 in memory of a “dedicated and inspiring” colleague who died very suddenly.
The fundraiser was set up in memory of Kathryn Trim (45), who suffered a fatal brain aneurysm just days before Christmas 2020.

The active and adventurous mum-of-two had worked at Duncan and Todd Group for more than 20 years as an operations manager when she passed away.
Her colleagues at Duncan and Todd’s Aberdeen headquarters and branches across Scotland were invited to make a donation to causes chosen by Kath’s parents, husband Richard and children Maisy (13) and Tomas (10).
The £1,150 raised will be split between the Association of Medical Research (AMRC) and CRUSE, a bereavement charity which has provided invaluable support to Kath’s family.
AMRC supports more than 150 charities to pursue research and innovation in the medical field. AMRC charities collectively spend nearly £2bn a year on research in the UK alone.
Most recently the organisation’s funding led to a new technique that has doubled the number of children able to receive a heart transplant.
Frances Rus, managing director at Duncan and Todd Group, paid tribute to Kath, saying: “Kath would have been blown away at how much money we have raised in her memory. These are causes which have provided support to her loved ones as well as valuable medical research and we are so happy that we can celebrate her life through making such a big donation in her name.
“Kath was a dedicated and inspiring woman who I had the pleasure of working closely with over many years, and it has been really heart-warming to see how many people’s lives she touched, and how many lives she will continue to touch through this fundraiser.
“She is sorely missed at Duncan and Todd Group, where she was an invaluable member of our team who had time for everyone.”
Duncan and Todd Group has been serving Scotland’s eye-care needs for over 40 years and has expanded to 42 branches and several well-known brands including 20 20 Opticians, JM MacDonald, and Douglas Dickie Opticians.
Caledonian Optical, the state-of-the-art lens laboratory, is also part of the Duncan and Todd Group and supplies high quality lenses to all of its branches as well as private sector clients around the UK.
The group has also developed a full hearing care and audiology service which is available across Scotland.
