LOGANAIR, Scotland’s Airline, has commenced air services between Edinburgh, Glasgow and the East Midlands after another operator ceased operations last week.
The airline stepped in to secure the important routes at short notice following news the previous operator was set to withdraw, maintaining vital connectivity for the 150,000 travellers who regularly fly between Scotland and the Midlands for businesses, family links and tourism.

The latest services started less than two months after Loganair’s inaugural flights from East Midlands to Brussels and Inverness took-off, while the airline is also set to introduce Aberdeen flights from February 24, 2020.
Operated by 49-seat Embraer 145 jets, the first service from Edinburgh departed at 14:30 while the inaugural Glasgow flight was airborne at 19:05.
Doubling the number of services on the route, weekday flights depart from Edinburgh at 06:50, 14:30, 16:20 and 19:40 and flights leave East Midlands for Edinburgh at 08:30, 14:15, 17:40 and 19:55. The journey time is just 70 minutes, with a Saturday morning flight and a choice of Sunday departures too.
There will initially be two flights per weekday from Glasgow – again operated by the 49-seat Embraer Regional Jets which prove popular with Loganair’s customers – plus weekend schedules.
From early in the new year, Loganair will upgrade the number of services from Glasgow to three flights in each direction per weekday and introduce a much-improved, customer-friendly timetable on the route, enabling business travellers to enjoy a working day in either destination. The upgrade will take place as soon as operational resources permit.
Fares on both routes start from £49.99 one-way and all Loganair fares include a complimentary hold baggage allowance, Clan Loganair frequent flyer rewards and in-flight refreshments.
The new Loganair services will also open up a wide range of flight connections from East Midlands to the Highlands and Islands, meeting Loganair’s flights to destinations including Shetland, Orkney, Stornoway, Benbecula, Islay, Barra, Campbeltown, Tiree and Wick at Edinburgh and/or Glasgow.
