Emergency services responded to a significant fire that erupted at a commercial property on Farmer’s Lane, Peterhead Harbour, on Tuesday evening, March 10, 2026.
The blaze, which required over three hours to bring under control, caused considerable disruption to local businesses, including a long-established sign-making firm and a nearby radio station.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was alerted to the incident at 5:38 PM. At the height of the fire, seven fire appliances and a high-reach vehicle were deployed to the scene, battling the flames within a building that houses Imagineering, a sign-making company operating since 2005. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze by 8:47 PM.
The incident prompted an immediate response from Imagineering, which announced its closure “until further notice” via social media. This closure signifies a notable interruption for the firm, a key local business in the area.

Additionally, North East Radio experienced temporary operational difficulties due to power outages in the vicinity of the fire, resulting in the station being temporarily off air on Tuesday evening. Ronnie Arthur, a presenter at North East Radio, provided an eyewitness account of the severity of the incident to the Press Association:
“Our premises are located some distance from where the fire occurred, but it was still clearly visible. From what I witnessed personally, the fire was quite significant.”
Fortunately, authorities confirmed there were no reported casualties as a result of the fire. The full extent of the damage to the affected commercial property and the long-term impact on Imagineering’s operations are yet to be fully assessed. The incident underscores the vulnerabilities businesses face from unforeseen events, particularly those located within close proximity in industrial or harbour areas.
