Tidy Green Clean (TGC), the Scottish-headquartered sustainable cleaning specialist, has completed a management buyout (MBO), marking a significant new chapter in the company’s growth journey.
The deal sees core members of the leadership team – Igors Krumins, Scott Melville, Callum Cruickshank, Grant Peterkin and Lisa Williams – take ownership of the business, while Managing Director Andrew Alleway and Operations Director David Moncur retain a shareholding and continue in hands-on roles. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Founded just nine years ago, Tidy Green Clean has grown from a standing start to £9.3 million in revenue and now employs more than 400 people across Scotland. Throughout that expansion, the business has focused on people-centred and environmentally responsible cleaning solutions, underpinned by strong partnerships with clients and franchisees.
Alleway described the buyout as an opportunity to empower the next generation of leaders while maintaining continuity for clients. “The buyout gives our talented management team the opportunity to drive TGC forward, take bold steps, and continue building on the foundations we’ve worked so hard to create,” he said, stressing that customers will see no change in the high standards of service, reliability and sustainability they receive.
The new ownership structure is being positioned as a statement of ambition rather than simply a financial milestone. In a joint message, the management team said this is “the next step for everyone involved to take TGC to the next level”, highlighting their commitment to supporting staff, strengthening client relationships and deepening the company’s positive impact in the communities it serves.
In Case You Missed it:
Tidy Green Clean operates a franchised model, equipping regional directors across Scotland with the training, systems and support to build successful local businesses within a national framework. The company has become one of Scotland’s leading environmentally focused commercial cleaning operators for blue-chip customers, delivering healthy, hygienic workplaces while pursuing ambitious sustainability goals.
Those credentials include achieving ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certifications in under three years, as well as recognition as a Safe Contractor, a Disability Confident employer and an Achilles UVDB Silver accredited supplier. In 2021, Tidy Green Clean became the first commercial cleaning company in Scotland to secure carbon negative status via Carbon-Zero, reflecting its commitment to going beyond carbon neutrality. The business is also a Registered Service Provider with the Living Wage Foundation, aligning its employment practices with fair pay principles.
With the management buyout now completed, Tidy Green Clean’s leadership believes the business is well placed to continue scaling while holding firm to its values. Backed by an experienced team, a 400-strong workforce and a clearly defined sustainability-led strategy, the company aims to build on its recent momentum and pursue the “next phase of growth” without compromising trust, consistency or environmental performance.
