An Aberdeen-based incident investigation specialist has partnered with international oilfield services company Expro to create and integrate a bespoke incident investigation process.
Over a period of six months, representatives from Matrix Risk Control (Matrix) and Expro have worked together to develop and embed the company’s new Intelligent Investigation process.
Matrix provides training and support services to help organisations manage many major forms of operational risk. Founded by former senior police officers in 2009, the company conducts independent investigations worldwide and works with organisations across a variety of sectors to provide incident investigation training courses and management services. Its incident investigation toolkit courses are IOSH-approved and have attracted attention from an international audience. The principles and methodologies from these courses were used as a foundation for Expro’s new Intelligent Investigation process.
Senior members of the Matrix team have worked closely with Expro personnel to integrate Intelligent Investigation with the company’s existing root cause analysis (RCA) tool, in order to streamline and improve the organisation’s overall incident reporting, recording and investigation process. Key to the global system roll-out was the appointment and training of 12 Expro Intelligent Investigation champions. The champions, who represent various aspects of Expro’s business, are responsible for cascading their training and knowledge to colleagues throughout the company.

This was supported by targeted training for personnel who had been identified as suitable lead investigators.
“Within a fairly ambitious timeframe, Expro became fully self-sufficient with our new Intelligent Investigation champions capable of delivering training to their colleagues. Delegates’ feedback to date has been very positive.”
