MODUSPEC is delighted to announce the award of a six-figure contract for provision of rig intake and inspection services for an international oil company (IOC). The contract is to deliver support during the inspection and acceptance phases of a warm stacked dual activity ultra-deep 7th generation drillship being reactivated to drill offshore Ivory Coast.

ModuSpec, a Vysus Group company, will assess the drillship’s current condition and level of compliance to the IOC’s corporate policies. We will deliver a discipline specific service focusing on the reactivation and testing of the drilling, electronic control, well control and dynamic positioning systems.

Our surveyors will join the drillship in Norway and be involved for the reactivation project which will take several months. Our team in Aberdeen will project manage delivery in partnership with both drilling contractor and IOC to ensure efficiencies are gained during all phases and that the intake process is optimised.

ModuSpec has already completed a number of similar projects for deepwater drilling rigs being reactivated for operations offshore West Africa. This new contract award mirrors a previous project completed with a newbuild drillship being reactivated for operations offshore Angola during 2021.

Mark Watson, Operations Manager with ModuSpec, said: “We are delighted to work with our long-term client on this project to intake the drillship to work offshore Ivory Coast. ModuSpec will be involved in a collaborative approach between the IOC and rig owner, following a plan which starts with agreeing an acceptance programme, visiting the dual activity rig regularly and following the reactivation process of complex equipment and systems onboard until final acceptance. Our client recognised ModuSpec’s ability to support complex rig intake projects and our track record in recent times on similar projects.”
