The programme will be tailored to meet Anadarko’s specific requirements. It forms part of a drive to achieve consistent incident investigation standards throughout Anadarko’s African operations, with the wider aim of strengthening the company’s levels of resilience and overall performance.

Matrix’s specialist incident investigation courses are IOSH-approved and delivered by IOSH-certified instructors to audiences in a variety of countries. The company, which was established in 2009 by former senior police officers, offers a range of training programmes and support services to help organisations manage their operational risk. This latest contract win in Mozambique further extends the firm’s global footprint; within the last six months Matrix has secured significant work in China. The company has also recently appointed a business development manager in the Middle East to capitalise on the growing demand for its services in the region.

Mhorvan Sherret, commercial director, Matrix Risk Control said: “We are looking forward to working closely with Anadarko’s teams over the next three months to strengthen the company’s incident investigation capabilities.

“There is an increasing recognition within organisations that a robust approach to incident investigation is not a luxury but a necessity. Equipping employees with the skills required to perform structured, thorough incident investigations safeguards the company – and its people – against major incidents, which are all too often both predictable and preventable.”

Anadarko is the operator behind Mozambique LNG, a project to advance the country’s first large-scale onshore LNG Park on the Afungi peninsula in Cabo Delgado province of northern Mozambique. The company is committed to developing the project in a sustainable manner; a pledge which includes maximising local content, enhancing educational and training opportunities and protecting the environment.

Mark McKenna, director HSE, Global LNG said: “Exciting times lie ahead for Anadarko in Mozambique, however the safety and wellbeing of our personnel remains a priority at both a local and a global level. Safety is built into our corporate performance goals and we strive to continually improve our standards and activities.

“By working in partnership with Matrix, we hope to create a positive culture and process surrounding all aspects of incident reporting, recording and investigation.”
