LOCAL MP Richard Thomson is urging carers in Gordon to consider applying for a ‘Take a Break’ grant which is now open for applications.
Funded by the Scottish Government and managed by respected charity Family Fund, the scheme was highlighted locally last year when Mr Thomson arranged for Family Fund to hold an information roadshow in Huntly promoting the support available.
Commenting, Richard Thomson MP said:
“I was pleased to help arrange for Family Fund to come to Huntly last year with their roadshow promoting the support they can provide to local carers.
“Take a Break provides grants to parent carers of disabled children and young people, aged 0 to 20, who have complex additional support needs.
“The aim of this scheme is to support unpaid carers’ quality of life, health and wellbeing by providing cash grants to help them access a short break. Take a Break grants can be used flexibly, to help meet the interests and circumstances of the carer and I’d encourage carers to get an application in as soon as possible.”
