Local MP Seamus Logan has hosted a visit to the Houses of Parliament by a group of Fraserburgh Academy students and their teachers.

The group were representing Scottish schools at an OECD Summit in Paris and travelled by train to help reduce their carbon footprint.  The students have been working for a year on projects to inspire and challenge new growth in education.

During this time, the Fraserburgh students have been collaborating with Japanese students from the Gunma Province, who they met in Paris.  Upon hearing this, Mr Logan contacted the Japanese Embassy and Yoshiko Matsunaga, Education Attaché at the Embassy, met with the students during their visit to Parliament.

Commenting, Seamus Logan MP said:

“I was delighted to host a visit from Fraserburgh Academy and meet with the students who had very ably represented their country at this prestigious international event.

“It was good to also host the Education Attaché from the Japanese Embassy, who readily agreed to come and meet with the Fraserburgh delegation in light of the town’s historic connections to Japan through Thomas Blake Glover.

“I am always happy to host visits from schools in my constituency and look forward to welcoming other groups in the near future.”
