A facility in Altens Industrial Estate aims to boost aftersales capacity in northeast Scotland, with electric vehicle servicing planned as part of an energy transition push.
MAN Truck & Bus UK has announced a multimillion-pound investment in a wholly-owned dealership in Aberdeen, marking one of the manufacturer’s most significant commitments to the Scottish commercial vehicle market in recent years. The new facility at Peterseat Park in the Altens Industrial Estate will begin phased operations in December 2025, with full construction completion expected by late 2026.
The German commercial vehicle manufacturer, a subsidiary of TRATON SE and part of the wider Volkswagen Group, described the project as setting “a new benchmark for customer care across northeast Scotland.” The investment strengthens MAN’s UK presence through its network of 68 strategically located wholly-owned and franchised partner dealerships.
The new dealership occupies a brownfield site exceeding three acres in one of Aberdeen’s most established industrial zones. The facility will house five designated truck service and repair lanes, three van service ramps, and a specialist Pet. Reg. bay once fully operational. The building will incorporate offices with a service reception area, customer meeting points, a dedicated parts department, and sales offices for both new and pre-owned MAN vehicles under the company’s TopUsed programme.
Jan Kohlmeier, Managing Director of MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd, emphasised the strategic significance of the location: “Strategically located on the busy Altens Industrial Estate and near the main A90, means we can quickly and confidently service the needs of customers in the surrounding area and at the same time be easily accessible to anyone passing by who may need assistance.”

He added: “This new facility is one of many exciting and significant investments in the wholly owned MAN Truck & Bus dealer network, ensuring we provide customers in Aberdeen and nearby areas with our full range of vehicles, from TGE at 3.5 tonnes to TGX heavy-haulage tractors at 250 tonnes.”
Preparing for Electric Vehicles
A notable element of the investment is infrastructure to support the transition to electric commercial vehicles. The Aberdeen facility will include a dedicated electric vehicle service and repair bay equipped with the necessary tools for EV maintenance, diagnostics, and repair once fully operational.
The region is currently positioning itself as a leader in energy transition, with the Altens Industrial Estate now designated as part of Aberdeen’s Energy Transition Zone. The Aberdeen City Region’s future is increasingly tied to renewable energy, hydrogen production, and the £420 million Aberdeen South Harbour development at the Port of Aberdeen. PwC forecasts predict Aberdeen will outperform the UK average for economic growth, with 1.2% growth in 2024 and 1.8% in 2025, driven by the professional, scientific, and technical sectors.
