The all-trades building services company offers building, joinery, electrical, plumbing and property maintenance expertise, including slaters and a locksmith.

Customers were asked to vote for their favourite companies and a panel of independent judges visited John Mutch’s premises on Holburn Street to score the team on specific criteria.

Owner and founder John Mutch was at the ceremony at the Marriott hotel in Glasgow to accept the award on behalf of his colleagues.

John said: “This is a very exciting and well deserved reward, and a fantastic flag for us to fly, particularly as it was voted for by our customers in recognition of our service and quality of work.

“We are very proud of what we achieve and believe we have one of the best teams in our industry, which is underlined by the fact that a large percentage of our work comes from repeat business and referrals.”

John Mutch Building Services reported turnover of more than £2million, with sales in the current financial year already up on last year.

Earlier this year, John Mutch Building Services acquired long-established local plumbing business Pirie and Hunter and has recently employed two apprentices to continue its investment in the future electrical and plumbing workforce.

Recent contract wins include a £130,000 house extension and several maintenance agreements for office developments.

The company is a single point of contact for all commercial and industrial maintenance and installations and has undertaken work for office developments, industrial units, hotels, leisure centres, municipal buildings and universities throughout the North-east.

The team of 25 also specialises in domestic electrical work, plumbing, roofing, joinery and locksmith services. Specialist trades are brought in to offer clients a one-stop shop for projects such as bathroom and kitchen installations, house extensions, shop fit-outs or office refurbishments.
