Ziyen, which uses the latest in sustainable technology to maximise extraction, is on track for stock market entry in 2018 – pending approval of its initial public offering (IPO).

The company was founded in 2016 by Inverness-born Alastair Caithness following his move from the north-east of Scotland to San Diego, California.

Alastair Caithness, CEO of Ziyen, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Shane on board and his knowledge and experience built up over many years working across the oil and gas industry will be an asset to the business as we move forward.

“Shane will play a crucial role in helping the business achieve its international growth targets for the coming year, while ensuring that we continue to provide an expert level of service to all our clients and stakeholders.”

Most recently an operations engineer for a North Sea operator, Shane has extensive onshore and offshore experience having held senior operations, maintenance and project delivery roles in both the UK and the Middle East where he specialised in instrumentation and control.

Shane, who lives on the Black Isle, Inverness, has a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Robert Gordon University and a PgCert in Business Management, also from RGU.

Shane Fraser said: “I’m extremely pleased to be joining an organisation with the drive, vision and commitment of Ziyen. It is a business that is very quickly making a positive reputation for itself in the marketplace.

“I look forward to helping my new colleagues expand the company’s international offering and I strongly feel that Ziyen is well positioned to take full advantage of its potential.”

Ziyen was founded in 2016 to develop cutting-edge procurement software that would provide clients with both government and private contracts from a specific industry via procurement portals.

Its long-standing aim is to develop streamlined technology and facilitate the process by which customers can access procurement information and contracts on a global scale.

In 2017, Ziyen diversified to create a specialist energy division, Ziyen Energy, which aims to produce oil in the United States with advanced extraction methods and technology implemented and guided by career experts in the oil and gas industry.

Through this dedicated division, Ziyen’s strategy is to acquire leases, return wells to production, and pursue other promising oil leases.

The company’s acquisition of two separate oil leases in Indiana has aided expansion within the United States energy market, whilst simultaneously making the company more attractive to potential investors and shareholders.

The business opened its Granite City base at the Aberdeen Innovation Park, Balgownie Drive in October. Its Inverness operation is located on the Black Isle.
