The trading name is the brainchild of local chef Colin Redman who currently runs ‘Coast 2 Coast’ in Union Square, Aberdeen.

Colin has been seeking the right opportunity to set up his own business and, as a golfing member at Aboyne, saw the potential to partner with the club to establish a premier dining facility on Royal Deeside.

Colin undertook his professional training at Café Society in Aberdeen’s West End and over the past 15 years has worked in restaurants and contract catering businesses in and around Aberdeen including ‘The Olive Tree’ and ‘The Square’.

Commenting on his appointment Colin said, “I am extremely excited to be part of the future of Aboyne Golf Club. Opening my own restaurant has always been a dream and to do so in such spectacular surroundings is more than I could have ever hoped for. I have been fortunate to have been trained by some exceptional chefs delivering fantastic customer service and will be bringing these skills to Aboyne as we continue to build on the club’s growing national reputation.”

Colin added “The Council at Aboyne have a great vision and strategy for the Club opening up the facilities to allow the local community to become social members. There is clear demand for another competitively priced quality dining facility in the area and ‘Cecil & Mearns’ will fill that gap.”

Vice President Justin Grant said “Colin has a strong allegiance to Aboyne Golf Club and like our Council can see clear potential to establish a renowned place to dine on Royal Deeside. We have a fabulous location and facility which we will open to the local community and visitors to the region.

“Such is Aboyne’s growing standing in the golfing world, we have already had a good level of interest since securing Colin’s services. We have a busy programme of social events leading up to the Christmas trading period, so Colin’s culinary skills will be on show. Colin and his team at ‘Cecil & Mearns’ will be at the very heart of this success and we greatly look forward to this joint venture.”
