SIGNAL, an award-winning digital media production company has underlined its position as a leader in helping to showcase the North East of Scotland thanks to the completion of a significant project.
As part of Scotland’s ‘Year of Stories,’ Visit Aberdeenshire asked Signal to produce a series of 12 films showcasing the region through the personal stories of a range of local people from businesses throughout the region. This ‘Stories from Our Home’ project took Signal on a creative journey from a farm in the north to a fishing village in the south, via a mountainside in the Cairngorms, a city art gallery, an aquarium and many other beautiful and interesting locations.

The series then culminated with two films which shine a light on the wealth of opportunities which exist for students at Robert Gordon University, completing the campaign and acting as a key tool to attract the attention of British and international students. Featuring RGU Chancellor Dame Evelyn Glennie, the final films showcase the campus, its facilities, and Aberdeen as a global city to promote the career opportunities offered in the region.
Commenting on the films, Signal’s Managing Director Jamie Baikie said: “We’re proud that our first project with VisitAberdeenshire evolved into working with RGU, also for the first time. Working in close collaboration to create these high quality films, we’ve been able to tell interesting stories that appeal to visitors and students near and far.”
RGU Marketing Manager, Sarah Gilmour, added: “We are proud to feature our Chancellor, Dame Evelyn Glennie, within Visit Aberdeenshire’s ‘Stories from our Home’ video series. We believe Aberdeen and Shire has lots to offer as a destination, and Signal have captured Dame Evelyn’s words and memories of the region, as well as our beautiful riverside campus, perfectly.”
Chris Foy, CEO VisitAberdeenshire said: “We’re delighted that the popularity of the ‘Stories from Our Home’ series led Dame Evelyn to share her own story, and trust that this new video will help to position the region as a place to study as well as a place to visit.”
“The team at Signal turned our initial ideas into a series of emotive and highly engaging films that have delighted our audiences. Their fresh ideas and creative approach brought our project to life even better than we could have hoped.”
