A new community-focused creative space has opened its doors in Westhill, at Unit 1 Meikle Clinterty, offering families, friends and local groups the chance to connect through arts, crafts and events.
F and L Studio, based at Unit 1 Meikle Clinterty Farm, is the brainchild of Aberdonians Kelly and Niamh, who have combined their shared passion for creativity and community to launch a venue designed to be welcoming and inclusive for all ages.
The large studio features three distinct areas: a ceramic painting space where visitors can choose from a wide range of items such as characters, plates and seasonal pieces; a children’s play area which can also be used for birthday parties; and a relaxed lounge space ideal for gatherings such as baby showers, girls’ nights or informal family get-togethers.

Kelly and Niamh, who both work full-time at a local care company, said the idea for the business came after years of attending events which felt formulaic or unaffordable. Determined to provide something different, they set out to create a venue that would bring people together while remaining budget-friendly.
“It wasn’t always easy, but with the support of our families we have managed to turn our vision into reality,” said Kelly. “For me, it’s all about family, community, feeling welcome — and having a bit of fun, laughter and making memories along the way.”
Niamh added: “Our aim is to create a safe, family-friendly space for people of all abilities to have a platform to engage in new experiences. We hope this resonates throughout everything we do.”
Community engagement is at the heart of the venture. As well as providing space for families and social groups, F and L Studio is working with local care homes to ensure residents have the opportunity to take part in creative activities.
In Case You Missed it:
The business has also been built with strong family ties. Kelly, a mother of three and grandmother of two, credits her husband Kevin, her grandchildren and her dogs Lola and Haggis as key supporters, while Niamh, recently married to Darren, says she is proud to share the project with her niece Milana, who has played her part in shaping the studio.
With a focus on affordability and accessibility, the founders hope F and L Studio will become a valued community hub for the North East, offering something unique for people looking to relax, celebrate or simply try something new.
