An Aberdeen-based start-up gin company founded by three UK bartenders, including 10 Dollar Shake’s Adrian Gomes, has secured a new European-wide distribution deal.

Single Estate Spirits Ltd., which produces Jindea Single Estate Tea Gin, has signed a three-year deal with MAS Wine & Spirits, a distributor based in the Netherlands.

The new partnership will initially target the Spanish market with a trade launch in Barcelona, at renowned cocktail bar Farola. Further launch events are planned for 2019 in Amsterdam, Rome, Stockholm and Athens.

The news comes at the same time as the new 2017 vintage bottling is released to the UK market.  The 2017 Jindea Gin features a single estate first flush tea from Okayti Tea Estate in Darjeeling, India, a fully-certified organic tea plantation.  The previous release in 2016 was from Goomtee Tea Estate, also in Darjeeling, India.  The new release comes complete with new labelling, which has more prominent gold foil and a new paper type.

Adrian Gomes says “Releasing the 2017 harvest was a step into the unknown for us.  With the tea featuring so prominently in the gin itself, we questioned if there would be a noticeable difference in taste from harvest to harvest.  Comparing to last year’s release which featured tea picked in 2016 from a different tea plantation, I would say there is a slight difference in flavour profile, which is only a good thing as it really emphasises the single estate ethos of the brand.”
